Best England Prospects at each position

In this blog we look at the best young English prospects at each position under the aged of 22. Will any of these players turn into world beaters and lead England to glory?

Keeper – Aaron Ramsdale

Ramsdale is easily the best young English keeper around at the moment, he is going into his second season of being a full time Premiership goalkeeper and will be looking to push for a Senior Cap soon. He has already won the U19s European Championship with England and also the Toulon Tournament with the U21s. He has a very bright future in front of him.

Right Back – Tariq Lamptey

This was a toss up between Lamptey and Reece James from Chelsea. I feel like Lamptey will have the better career, currently in this first season as a regular starter he has been the biggest bright spark so far for Brighton this season. If he continues at this rate I can see him being England’s 3rd choice RB for the Euros this summer.

Centre Backs – Teden Mengi and Japhet Tanganga

Mengi has recently made his way onto the bench for Manchester United this season and made his debut in last season Europa League against LASK, he is highly rated at Old Trafford and is definitely one for the future as a rock at the back.

Tanganga made his Spurs debut last season and has made 6 appearances at the heart of the defence, he has looked steady and as long as Jose has faith in the kid he can go to the top.

Left Back – Bukayo Saka

A man who can play multiple positions on the pitch, Saka will be roaming down the left for many years to come, having played 30 games in 3 seasons scoring 2 goals he has an outside chance of making the Euro 2021 squad with a good season this year.

Centre Midfield – Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice

What is there to say about Jude Bellingham that hasn’t already been said? He had his squad number retired after one season and has broken into the Borussia Dortmund team this season. He is a real talent and one of the best around.

Declan Rice has been around for years but some how is only 21 years old, he breaks up play better than anyone in England and can drive forward when needed. He will be the Anchorman for England for the next 10 years.

Left Attacking Midfield – Marcus Rashford

The guy feeds hungry kids and strikers through on goal. Rashford is halfway to become a England and Man United Legend. He will be around to lead this team to glory for years to come.

Centre Attacking Midfield – Phil Foden

Manchester City’s new crown jewel is one of the best Attacking Midfielders England has produced in many moons. All the ability in the world will only improve under Pep at Man City.

Right Attacking Midfielder – Jadon Sancho

Another player who was at Manchester United before heading to Germany to become one of the best attackers in the world. A future Ballon d’Or winner he has the pacy and trickery to unlock any defence.

Striker – Mason Greenwood

This has been the hardest Position to find a player to match. I feel England do not have a world class number 9 coming up through the ranks at any clubs. Greenwood has got the nod as he has scored goals for United here and across the whole forward line.

The biggest weakness for England moving forward will be developing new Centre Backs and a new striker to one day replace Harry Kane, without this I don’t ever see England winning a major championship any time soon!
