Premier League Predictions

With the start of the Premier League season beginning tomorrow, here are my predictions for the season ahead.

20th – Bournemouth

I don’t think Bournemouth have strengthen enough to stay in the league. They have spent £10 million on Championship quality players and I think they will go straight back down. The only hope of survival is Scott Parker and the relationship he builds with his players, if they get rid of him they will be bottom by a mile.

19th – Notts Forest

It’s nice to see Forest back in the big time but I don’t think this will last for long. They have made some good transfers bringing in the likes of Jesse Lingard and Dean Henderson but they are their only players with real Premier League experience.

18th – Everton

Everton have no signed enough quality players to improve from last season. The lose of Richarlison will be a massive lose and with Dominic Calvert Lewin being injury prone they have nobody to score the goals. They did improve at the back by bringing in James Tarkowski but I do not think it will be enough to stay in the league.

17th – Southampton

After a 15th placed finish last season, I don’t think Southampton have enough talent to go better than that. They have signed a few squad players that will add depth to the team but there are no standout players who will help James Ward Prowse. There is also talk about main striker Che Adams leaving the club which will only leave them with two strikers.

16th – Fulham

The YoYo club are back in the league. They have made some very good signings this summer including Bernd Leno from Arsenal. The have made signings that will help bring the best from Aleksander Mitrovic who scored 43 goals in 44 games in the league last year. I think Fulham could shock a few teams this season and start to build there way into being a consistent Premier League side.

15th – Leeds

Losing their two best players in Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips will be a big lose to the team, they have however brought some very good replacement players including Tyler Adams to feel the void left by Phillips. Leeds main problem last season was squad depth due to injuries and this has been addressed by the signings they have made.

14th – Brentford

I think Brentford will take a step back this season due to the quality of the mid table team around them. They have made good signing with bring in the likes of Keane Lewis Potter from Hull City. Teams will figure out how to play Brentford this season and the lose of Christian Eriksen will be massive as he was the creative force for them.

13th – Leicester

What on earth are Leicester doing during this transfer window? They are the only team who are yet to make a signing this window and they have sold their number one keeper aswell. Due to the strength of the teams around them I think they will be one of the worst teams this season and wouldn’t be surprised if Brendan Rodgers didn’t last the season.

12th– Brighton

I love Graham Potter as a manager and his football story is one that belongs in a book. I don’t think they have signed enough talent to improve on their 9th place finish last year. I am basing this position on the basis that they lose Marc Cucurella to Chelsea. If this does happening I see they have a massive weakness at the back and will lose the chances that he created for others last year. I do think Deniz Undav will be one of the signings of the season!

11th – Crystal Palace

Connor Gallagher not being at the club this season will be a massive lose and this will have a big impact on the players around him. They will need to reply on Wilf Zaha to provide the goals once again this year. If Palace can make another few signing I think they would be able to push for a place in the top half.

10th– Wolves

They will find themselves in the same spot that they finished last season. They have not made enough signings to push on a challenge for that Europe Conference place. The return of a fully fit Pedro Neto will be a massive boost and they will need to hope that Raul Jimenez will be able to return to his form from the 19/20 season.

9th– West Ham

I think we will see West Ham fall away from the top 7 this season due to having to play in the Europe Conference and traveling to the far corners of Europe every Thursday. They have filled a big need by signing Gianluca Scamacca but I still think they need to add a few creative players to bring the best out of him.

8th– Newcastle

People have being sleeping on Newcastle for to long, they have conducted very good business this transfer window by bringing in a new keeper and a CB. The return of Kieran Tripper and Callum Wilson will be a huge boost and I think Eddie Howe will bring all these players together and get the best out of them.

 7th– Aston Villa

My dark horse of the season, I love the business Villa have done to add players and depth to the team. They have signed players that have been there and done it in European competitions and I think they will push and force there way into the top 7 and upset a few of the “big” teams this season.

6th – Chelsea

Based on the Chelsea team today I don’t think they have the players or quality to get into the top 4 again this year. If they can’t bring in some world class Defenders and Strikers in the last few weeks of the window I think they will be in big trouble and one of the biggest letdowns this season.

5th – Man Utd

Again the same as Chelsea, they have made signings but not enough or not in the correct areas. The Frankie De Jong drama has dragged on for to long and it seems like they can only concentrate of one deal at a time. I think they will still improve on last year due to Erik Ten Hag and his no nonsense approach but this will be a waste of Ronaldo’s last season at the club.

4th – Spurs

Best business by any team this season. They have signed enough good players that they could field one team for the league and another for European games in midweek. The reason why I have not put Spurs higher is because everyone knows that I don’t matter how good they could be they can always have them “Spursy” moments.

3rd – Arsenal

Arteta needs to have a massive season or he will be out of a job. This is the second summer window in a row that they have spent north of £120 million on players. They are building a certain culture and philosophy at the club and the players that they have signed certainly fit that mould. I think that we could be looking at Arsenal winning the FA cup or League cup this year.

2nd – Liverpool

I think the lose of Sadio Mane will have a massive impact during the second half of the season after the World Cup. They have brought in some good players but I think that they will pick up a lot of Injuries again this season that will end up putting their title challenge on ice. If they get knocked out of the Champions League early I think that Klopp will put all his eggs in one basket and try to focus on the league.

1st – Man City

One of the greatest teams the Premier League has ever seen. They have some much talent all over the pitch and even though they have sold a few squad players they are still buying talent and bringing players through their youth set up. I think City will win the league by at least 7 points and go close to an unbeaten season.

My Award winners are below

Top Goal scorer – Gabriel Jesus

Manager of the Year – Steven Gerrard

Player of the Season – Kevin De Bruyne

Young Player of the Season – Erling Haaland
